Shipping FAQs

How do you choose the wine that you sell?
Before we opened The Tasting Table, we spent much of our time criss-crossing Hungary exploring its wine regions, getting to know winemakers and their wines, and showing our clients the wines and places that we loved the most. We’ve built strong connections and relationships with many winemakers in Hungary (and beyond), and we prefer to buy our wine directly from the people who produce it. We do plenty of tasting (both at the shop and at the wineries) and are dedicated to selling the best wines that we can find, and especially the ones which make Hungary so unique. Our team keeps their palates entertained by not only tasting plenty of Hungarian wine, but wine from around the world.


I am planning an event and would like to make a large order of wine. Do you offer discounts?
Of course! For purchases of six or more bottles we offer our regular 10% discount. But for larger purchases please contact us and we’d be happy to give you a customized offer.


If I am planning a trip to Hungary, can the wineries be visited?
Definitely, but you should make appointments in advance! Feel free to check out the wine and food tours which our partner company, Taste Hungary, organizes and are lead by wine-specialized guides.


How long will the wine take to be delivered?
Typically, your order ships within 3-5 business days, but delivery time varies according to your country. We’ll give you our best estimate when you place your order, and you will receive a confirmation number so you can track your order online.


Will the weather affect my shipment?
The weather would have to be extreme to affect the delivery. With each order you will be given a tracking number, so you can track any delayed delivery. There are a few times in the year when deliveries may be delayed by national holidays (or the Christmas delivery rush).


What if one of my bottles is corked or faulty?
If you think you have a defective bottle of wine, please drop us an email (within 30 days of the purchase) and we’ll look into it. Though we aim to provide top quality products, sometimes faults happen.


Do you insure your shipments?
We can guarantee orders up to 300 euros, if the package has been proved to be damaged or lost. All returned goods are sent at your cost and risk. You have the option upon checkout to purchase extra insurance.


What if the shipment is lost or damaged?
Lost shipments are rare, as all packages have tracking numbers. However, please email us as soon as possible if you have a problem so we can get to the bottom of things! Once you receive the package, it is important to check that there is no damage (no broken or leaking bottles) to the products, and that you have the correct items before signing the delivery acceptance form. If something is not right with the order (and the products are not in perfect condition), please do not accept the package and the shipper will return it!


What payment options do I have?
You can pay using all major credit cards. If you’d rather pay by bank transfer, please contact us. Online orders will be shipped only after payment has been confirmed.


Can I send my order as a gift?
Yes! Who wouldn’t be happy to receive wine as a gift? We can also provide gift wrapping and a gift card for an extra charge. Just let us know the details in the comments section. Don’t worry, the package will not include the bill or pricing details!


What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your order for whatever reason, please email us as soon as possible! We can cancel the order if it has not already been shipped, but we must receive your cancellation request via email.


Do prices include VAT?
Yes, all prices listed include VAT (which is 27% on wine in Hungary).


Is there a minimum purchase?
No!


How are your wines stored?
We have an underground storage room with perfect temperature and humidity conditions to ensure that the wine reaches you in the condition that the winemaker intended.


Which countries do you ship to?
We currently ship to most EU countries (see below). We can ship wine in small quantities to the US (depending on the state, restrictions may apply). Please contact us for details. If you live in a country which is not listed here and would like to place an order, please contact us and we’ll see what we can do!


What if I live in Budapest?
Of course we also deliver in Budapest! We will deliver your order for free (if it is higher than 20,000 HUF), or you can pick it up from our shop.


How much will it cost to ship my wine?
Prices will be calculated when you place your order, but for informational purposes here are our shipping prices based on weight and distance. Prices vary for other non-wine products. Restrictions may apply on individual orders.
