Description

There have been dozens (if not many dozens) of memoirs written about people who have traveled to France, fallen in love with the place (perhaps over a few too many glasses of wine), and then promptly decided to buy a romantically-run-down old house (chateau!), and, naturally, then started to make their own wine! We have an even better story for you! A Frenchman from a winemaking family in Bordeaux (think Sauternes) left his “chateau” to come make wine in a small village in Tokaj! His name is Samuel Tinon, and despite being a relative newcomer to the region (he arrived in the early 1990s), his story has become one of the legends of Tokaj, and he has become one of the region’s most iconic and respected winemakers. His Estate Furmint is a very dry wine, with plenty of varied citrus flavors, lovely minerality, and a nice saltiness. It’s not necessarily a food wine (it’s a perfect aperitif), but you will definitely feel like eating something nice after a glass of this wine! As they say, the first impression always sticks with you. This estate wine might inspire you to look for other impressions of Tinon, and he has some stunning ones in his aszú and szamorodni.
