The Zwack family has been the force behind many beloved Hungarian drinks, most notably the Unicum bitter liquor—created more than 200 years ago as a digestive medicine for the Habsburg family. And they are still at it. When Izabella Zwack visited Tokaj, she fell in love with the region and founded the Dobogó Winery, located in an old villa in the very center of Tokaj. Its flagship wine, this 6 puttonyos aszú, is undoubtedly sweet. But it also has Tokaji‘s distinctively explosive acidity keeping it alert. It has flavors of marmalade, dried apricots, honey, and straw. It ages particularly well. This wine is consistently among the most internationally recognized Hungarian wines … and for good reason.
