Description
This 100% Zweigelt rosé comes from Csepel Island on the River Danube, just 25km south of Budapest, from what is part of the Kunság region (Hungary’s largest wine region). It was made reductively in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness by Éva Dignisz Gálné, who was named as the Hungarian Wine Academy’s Winemaker of the Year in 2013. Zweigelt is a crossing of the Blaufränkish (Kékfrankos in Hungarian) grape and St. Laurent, carried out by Dr Fritz Zweigelt in the early 1920s at the Teaching and Research Centre for Viticulture and Horticulture (LFZ) in Klosterneuburg, Austria. This fruit-forward grape variety is excellent for making round and fruity rosés, of which this award-winning wine is a prime example. Salmon colour, lively and fresh aromas of raspberries, strawberry and peach, with an exciting touch of rose hip and juicy primary fruit. Refreshing and balanced on the palate with plenty of substance.
